We have been blessed with green thumbs and the appreciation of the earth under our nails. We love to be outside and Steve is an amazing chef. We have discovered the joys of seasonal eating and appreciate all of the support from our local community.
Our farm is just off Hwy 55 on Lakewood Road West of Eden Valley. Among our fields you will find over 50 kinds of fruits and vegetables, including rows and rows of asparagus, plenty of pickling pickle plus 3,000+ tomato plants! We stage plant 7 fields of sweet corn and grow 5 acres of mini, regular and exotic pumpkins and gourds. Explore our website to find out more about U-pick, bulk produce for sauces and salsas and the produce we preserve and sell like Steve’s 21 Ingredient Sauce! We sold the last of it over the holiday’s but plan to make way more this season.
The core of Fresh on 55 is made up of our loyal group of CSA members. We have a strong following of folks who sign up to receive weekly deliveries. If your unfamiliar, Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a relationship between our farm and you as our customer. Rather than simply purchasing food, our customers become “members” and receive a portion of the farm’s harvest with weekly deliveries of whatever is ripe and ready. Just think, you can sit back and enjoy garden goodness minus the bugs, weeding, aches and pains.
We are proud to be Fresh on 55 by Pennock Produce! It brings both of us such joy to hear our friends and neighbors talking about how much they enjoyed the flavors and tastes of fresh fruits and veggies. We grow good food and providing our community with fresh produce is what we love to do. Seeing your smiles and hearing how much you enjoy it is what fuels us to keep growing and picking especially when we feel like flopping on the couch.
A question we hear frequently is “Why Pennock Produce when we are located in Eden Valley?” The green thumb runs in our family with Jamie’s grandparents, Dave and Susie, owners and operators of Franks Greenhouses for over two decades near Pennock, Minnesota. We started learning and growing with them while soaking up their years of experience and wealth of knowledge through years of trials and errors. What they taught us far surpassed any gardening books or classes. After a few years of working with them, we took over the produce portion while they focused on their beautiful flowers. We started Penock Produce, LLC to keep the two sides organized for tax purposes. Unfortunately, after losing them both in an auto related accident we did not take over the family business and relocated to our own land near Eden Valley just off of Hwy 55 which is how we incorporated Fresh on 55 into the mix. In honor of them we continue to operate as Pennock Produce, LLC with the same practices that have been proven to work for our family for decades.
From the bottom of our hearts we appreciate your continued support. Sincerely, Steve & Jamie Ries
